04/01/06 Three years, no news! At this time we don't have much
information on the current state of DMS, but we have been assured that the
beast is not dead. Bookmark this page and keep an eye out at www.team-av.com
for updates, including full information on the new label sampler, Everything
You Feared It Could Be, which features an unreleased live track
from DMS circa the Ben Wilson years.
09/05/03 DMS has been spotted playing shows around the middle
provinces of the United States over the past several months. On soft
footsteps the kingdoms have all been taken. Keep your eyes and ears peeled
for future rumblings from the depths of the DMS man/machine.
12/10/02 Nothing really to report on DMS, other than the Ascetic
comp is available. Look for the Buzzards and the Geese to be playing shows
around the Midwest this winter. For dates check out www.team-av.com.
09/11/02 It has been a long time since an update. Too long. DMS
went into the studio earlier this year and put some new songs to tape.
They probably aren't new to frequenters of the live shows, but they're
newly recorded. Three tracks turned out well enough to release on the Socomtonar
Collection Volume 1. This release is on Ascetic records and features HOUSTON - RIDDLE OF STEEL - DMS - RING, CICADA. You can learn more about it at the Ascetic website -
http://www.asceticrecords.com.
You can also look for a couple of DMS live tracks released on an
Arborvitae/TEAM AV label sampler to be released in early 2003. Those are
really the only certainties right now. Steve has been busy with a couple
of other projects, including the Buzzards in Champaign and the Geese in
Chicago. Buzzards are already playing out around the Midwest and the
Geese, with Steve Holmes (American Football) and Andrew Hawthorne
(Firebird Band) will be debuting sometime this winter, most likely in
Chicago. Steve also plays trumpet on a couple of records by Champaign
artists like Rob McColley and the new Absinthe Blind album, Rings.
Ben is playing in a new band in St. Louis called 86 Pop. For any further
DMS information email dms@team-av.com
or check out the TEAM AV website at http://www.team-av.com.
04/08/02 A quick update to the website is in order. DMS is
still active, but most of the work continues to be behind the
scenes. New material is being written, tweaked, tanked and reworked
again in the pursuit of perfection. The good news is that recording
dates loom on the horizon, as DMS anticipates being involved in a few
different releases this year with a few different labels. In the
meantime, to find out where all this began pick up a copy of AV015, the
DMS self-titled debut from Arborvitae Records. Also please come out
and see us play live, as we have several shows coming up. Introduce
yourselves - DMS will be pleased to meet you.
01/28/02 Thanks to everyone who came out to the Arborvitae Records
showcase at the Empty Bottle. It was great to see so many great fans
and great bands in one place. The DMS set went exceptionally well, and
everyone at the label deemed it to be the show stealer. Arborvitae
still has a handful of the beautiful showcase posters left, which you can
get here.
As of now, the immediate future will be spent working out the kinks on new
material, taking them from incubation to execution. There will be a
few shows in the area of the home base(s). The material we are
currently working on will be released as a split LP on the Arborvitae label
later this year, with New York's Dälek. The split will be one in a
series for Dälek, who will also be collaborating with Kid606 and Techno
Animal. Needless to say, we're excited.
So sit tight while we compose our next release, and in the meantime go check
out Volta Do Mar when they come
to your town.
12/12/01 A lot has happened since the last update, most of which far
exceeds the scope of music. DMS has been playing shows regularly,
working out a new schedule and system. As some of you may know, Ben
and Steve are no longer living in the same cities, but are continuing DMS as
strong as ever. December and the bulk of winter will be spent wrapped
up in rehearsal and recording spaces preparing the next album, which will be
a great departure from the first DMS album. Keep your eyes and ears
peeled to this website and to http://team-av.com
for DMS news and events as they unfold. Stay warm.
09/07/01 DCN recently posted a streaming clip of DMS' performance at
Brownies in August. If you haven't had a chance to check out the new
DMS sound this is your chance. Pretty good stuff. Click on the
banner below, yo.
08/03/01 Well, this is what everyone has been waiting for - DMS
is on tour. Please do come out and see us if you can - complete dates
are up now. See you at the shows!
07/10/01 DMS is back in action.
After nearly two months on the sidelines, DMS recently returned to the live
arena with an unusually ecclectic set at the TEAM AV showcase. With
new material unfolding at a steady clip and the dates for their Eastern tour
nearly 100% confirmed, the studio is looming on the horizon. Stay
tuned for updated information, as it becomes available. In the
meantime, be sure to catch the duo when they roll into your town this
summer.

1) Footage from our recent Double Door show is up at the Digital Club Network. To see the new
and improved line-up in full rock action click HERE. A live track from the
Canopy Club in Champaign should also be available later this week in MP3 format.
2) Steve recently did two interviews regarding DMS. One is up HERE at
Ride the Stars, and the other will be appearing in a British zine
called _Some Kind of Superstar_ later this year. Many thanks to Justin
and Carl for their interest in DMS.
3) East coast dates are taking shape. Look for a 10 day tour in August.
05/25/01 DMS expands lineup, gets hitched!
DMS is taking some time off to live life. As you probably know the DMS
lineup was recently expanded to include Ben Wilson (Firebird, Back of Dave,
Mei Ling) and his ambient guitar/bass sounds. They have played several
shows together and the response has been overwhelmingly "DAMN!". Steve
Lamos will be getting married June 9th, and Ben Wilson will be taking summer
classes. In July, Steve and Ben start writing the next album, followed by a
10 day super tour in August. Three dates with their new homies Pelé are
confirmed, and look for other shows with Defender, Volta Do Mar, Utah!, The
French New Wave, The Faint, Red Shirt Brigade, and even Matador
hip-hop-bomb-droppers DALEK.
04/13/01 Friday the 13th, good gravy. Time for an update.
1) Guitarist/bassist Ben Wilson will be playing some shows with DMS.
Think
of it as a kind of double-solo project, where individual solo songs are
integrated into one big set. Ben's ambient guitar sensationalism fits
remarkably well over the DMS beats.
2) DMS will be playing shows in April
& May, getting married in June, writing/recording in July, and then touring
briefly in August. Stay tuned for show dates out east, possibly with
bomb-dropping hip-hop sensation DALEK.
3) Steve and the afore
mentioned Ben have parted ways with Firebird, which is by now no big
secret. No hard feelings were involved, just conflicting schedules. Before
their final show, the lineup recorded a three-song EP, which is due out in
fall on Magwheel Records. DMS and Firebird will be playing some dates
together in May, and some dates down the road as well.
As always, check http://arborvitaerecords.com
for up to date show schedules and other news. You can order the album
direct from the label or pick it up at your local store. If they don't
have it have them contact Southern Records, our exclusive distributor.
All of the major CMJ stations also have it for your requesting
pleasure. Big thanks to KBOO, KXLU, KUCI, WNYU, WTUL, KDIC and all of
the other stations who helped push AV015 into the CMJ charts.
02/18/01 It is very exciting to announce that the album, with
minimal promotion and quiet fanfare, has snuck into the CMJ top 200 with
only 1/3 of the CMJ reporting stations serviced. In a few days copies
will be sent out from the AAM offices to another 1/3 of the CMJ reporting
stations and we will see what happens from there. At any rate, thanks
so much to everyone supporting, playing and listening to AV015.
If you want to know who to contact to request the album email URSISpr via press@ursis.com
and you will be properly informed. CMJ has their own radio program (http://cmj.com/radiocmj)
which is webcast in Real Audio and Video and you can call them Toll Free 1.888.824.8873
and request DMS. You can also email Kricket@cmj.com,
who is a great DJ with an excellent mix.
New show added in May with the phenomenal Q and Not U, whom DMS
rocked with last summer. Check the PERFORMANCES page for upcoming shows. If you are interested
in booking a DMS show contact Duffy at ABC booking. Look for a tour
this summer, including NYC/east coast dates with Matador recording artist
DALEK. If you don't already own a copy of their LP or the split with
Techno Animal do yourself a favor and get it.
If your local indie/hipster record store isn't carrying the DMS album tell
them to order it from Chris Jern at Southern
Records. Otherwise you can order it from DMS-HQ or direct from the Arborvitae
Store (if you have paypal email $8 to arborvitae@ursis.com)or
from
Saul Goodman. DMS hometown brethren can pick it up in Champaign at Record
Service or in Urbana at Parasol, who
are also distributing the
record through their mail-order.
Anyone interested in supporting DMS by joining the Street Team can do so on
the Arborvitae Records
website's STREET TEAM page. Although you can specify to join only for
DMS it is recommended that you join up for the entire roster, as TEAM AV is
solid all around with Mt St Helens, UTAH!, Volta Do Mar and the Red Shirt
Brigade.
That is the news for now, stay tuned for updates and email
with any questions, comments or help with your writing projects.
